NOTICEBOARD

Our noticeboard section has some interesting updates for you, find out what has been going on at UEL over the past month.

We want to showcase photos of our graduates!

The University of East London is hosting a series of events to celebrate its 125 anniversary, including a spectacular water show on Wednesday, 31 May at Docklands Campus and video mapping later in October at Stratford Campus. Both will showcase the history of the University throughout the years.

Do you have images of the University you’d like to share? Send them to events@uel.ac.uk with a brief description of when and where they were taken, and your photo may be featured in our first-ever immersive water show or video mapping.

As much as we love selfies and group photos, they sadly do not work for shows of this kind, so please send in images of UEL buildings and surrounding area, historical university branded items or your favourite memories of your time at UEL.

We need your photos by Monday 24th April. By sharing the pictures, you give UEL full permission to use the selected visuals to create the water show and video mapping content.

Sport Psychology MSc endorsed at the highest level

We are delighted to let you know about some recent developments in the sport psychology area. The sport science governing body BASES are now endorsing taught masters courses. The Sport Psychology pathway of the Applied Sport & Exercise Sciences MSc was one of only a small handful of courses to be granted the ‘PSES’ status.

Programme Leader James Beale said “It’s really good to see that BASES are now endorsing post graduate programmes in sport psychology, for years now it has been difficult for students from a sport and exercise science background to go into sport psychology as a profession. This new recognition by BASES changes that where sports students now enter into post graduate sport psychology on a more equal footing with psychology students”

The programme follows a process that assumes that there a very limited knowledge on entry and is very applicable to those with either a sport or psychology background. The 2 areas of the courses, applied sport psychology and research within sport psychology make it easy for students that wish to take a little more time over their studies and approach the qualification part time.

James went on to say “I did make a couple of adjustments to the course to ensure that we obtained the endorsement but as someone with over 20 years experience within professional sport psychology I always knew that the course would not struggle once the governing body began to recognise post graduate programmes and as the programme leader I am delighted to see it being recognised in this way”
