ALUMNI OF THE MONTH

Meet Omar, who completed a MSc in Structural Engineering.

Since graduating, Omar works as a junior structural engineer in a well established firm & has won 2nd prize in the EON-XR competition (Augmented & Virtual Reality Project) for the School of ACE.

Omar's special memory of UEL were the EWB Design Challenges in 2020 & 2021; "Financial barriers did not limit my ability to lead my team to the National Finals where I steered UEL to the top 3.6% & 2.6% in the UK & Ireland".

Graduate Outcomes Survey

This is just a quick reminder of the importance of completing the Graduate Outcomes Survey if you are eligible (completed your studies with us between May and July 2023) and haven’t already. The deadline to participate is 30th November.

Completing this survey is a valuable opportunity to enhance the reputation of the University of East London, which in turn adds value to your degree in the eyes of future employers. Your input also contributes to a broader picture of the success of UEL graduates and aids in shaping our programs for future students.

If you haven't yet received your unique survey link, please check your inbox or spam folder for an email from UEL@graduateoutcomes.ac.uk. If you don't have or can't find the link, you can request a new  one by contacting info@graduateoutcomes.ac.uk.

 

Online Masters in SEN: Applications Open for January 2025

From start to finish, ICEP Europe and the University of East London have a network of faculty and staff who are ready to lead you through your postgraduate journey. Do you want to get an overview of our fully-online, part-time Masters in Special and Additional Learning Needs programme?

Mark your calendar for Thursday, 28th November at 4 PM GMT!

During this live session, our academic experts will lead a discussion about the programme structure, academic information, the application process, and the online student support available during your journey.

The session will be hosted by Dr Ke Ren (Rita) (Academic Programme Lead in Special Education, ICEP Europe) and joined by David Bara (Senior Lecturer in Special Education, University of East London), who teaches the Research Methodologies and Dissertation module. You’ll also hear from our recent graduate Dr Aloysia Ogle from UAE (Medical General Practitioner & Advisor at WeCanAccess), as she shares her experience of pursuing the Masters programme and how it benefited her personally and professionally.

At the end of the webinar, there will be a Live Q&A session that goes as long as time allows. This is a great opportunity to get your specific questions answered from different perspectives.

Delivered entirely online, this international Masters in Special and Additional Learning Needs programme, delivered in partnership with ICEP Europe offers ongoing support from experienced tutors, fostering engagement through class discussions and online tutorials. Completion is achievable within 2 years. Participants can personalise their learning journey by selecting modules aligning with their interests and educational contexts. Modules include Inclusive Education, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Dyslexia and Literacy, Exceptionally Able Learners and Understanding Behaviour.

The programme's online format and the flexibility to pay for modules on an individual basis cater to professionals with busy schedules, offering the flexibility to earn a recognised University qualification regardless of location.

UEL Alumni Webinar Series with Gloria Akomah

In the month of December we are joined by UEL Alumni Gloria Akomah, MSc, MA, BSc (Hons), NT Dip, Public Health Champion Cert., NCSCT Accredited. Gloria is the Founder of Flourish Nutritional’s, Public Speaker and Public Heath Champion. Gloria is a Nutritional Therapist with in-depth scientific and evidenced-based knowledge in nutrition, food nutrients, the medicinal and nutritive value of food in relation to health and wellness.

Gloria hosts Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Sessions and Workplace Wellness Sessions for community groups and organisations respectively to help people to learn about ways that they can improve their health and wellness. She spends time with her clients one-to-one to find out more about their lifestyle choices, nutrition seeking behaviour, dietary habits, motivation, environment, challenges, nutrition health and wellness goals and then, create individualised nutritional therapy plan to meet their needs.

Gloria will discuss the topic of Enhancing your Wellness in the Workplace.

UEL Alumni Masterclass with Mallapalli Manikanth Reddy

Thursday 12th December 2024, 18:00-20:00, Online

Manikanth Reddy, MBA (Project Management), FHEA, B.E. (Electronics and Communication Engineering), is a seasoned academic and industry professional with extensive experience in project management. 

As a dedicated educator at the University of East London and London Metropolitan College, he is committed to nurturing intellectual curiosity and fostering critical thinking among his project management apprentices. With a strong foundation in engineering and a specialized MBA in Project Management, Mr. Reddy possesses a deep understanding of project lifecycle, risk management, and strategic planning. His industry experience with renowned organizations such as Accenture and Sedenion Technologies, where he worked on projects for clients like Ferrari, Fiat and Chrysler, has equipped him with practical insights into real-world project challenges. He has successfully delivered IT projects across various regions, including EMEA, LATAM, APAC, and NAFTA. Currently, he is engaged in global academic projects with the Projcon Group. 

As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Mr. Reddy is dedicated to enhancing student learning and teaching excellence. He actively engages in professional organizations like the Association for Project Management , Controls and Skills Authority UK, staying abreast of industry trends and best practices. 

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Reddy is passionate about mentoring apprentices and guiding them towards successful careers in project management. His inclusive and dynamic teaching style has earned him recognition from both apprentices and colleagues.
