ALUMNI OF THE MONTH

We are pleased to introduce our next alumni of the month! Meet Harnish Gajjar who completed a Masters in Business Administration in 2005.

Harnish currently works as 'Head of Executive Education at Ahmedabad University’, to curate and run executive programmes and corporate programmes including alumni relationships and endowment fundraising.

Harnish's special memory of UEL was the atmosphere at Docklands Campus, including the diversity and infrastructure.

Calling recently graduated alumni for exciting international mobility opportunities!

Are you a recent UEL graduate from within the past 12 months? Great news—you are eligible to participate in short-term programmes and traineeships abroad offered by the Global Experiences team. Additionally, you can access funding through the Turing Scheme to help financially support your living and travel expenses while you’re abroad. You can find more information about Turing Scheme funding options here.

Take advantage of this opportunity to develop your skills, gain international experience, and boost your employability on your CV as you step into the professional world!

Short-Term Programmes
UEL offers short-term placements lasting 4-6 weeks to provide shorter, more affordable participation in international projects and cultural exchanges. These are constantly updated on our website, so check back for updates on opportunities as they become available.

Traineeships
We encourage alumni who wish to participate in a traineeship or work placement abroad to seek their own opportunities. Our UEL Career Zone has useful resources for doing so such as the GoinGlobal Platform, an online database that helps new and experienced job seekers find opportunities both at home and abroad. Global Experiences occasionally offers various opportunities through our academic partner institutions that are subject to availability and vary by year, but we if you’re interested in sector-related, industry-specific traineeships, you can access the CareerZone/GoinGlobal portal to support you in finding your own placement. Once you have found and secured your placement, you can reach out to the Global Experiences who can support you in applying for funding.

UEL Psychology Graduate delivers compelling TEDx talk in Washington

Dr. Amrita Sen Mukherjee, a distinguished member of our UEL MAPPCP alumni, is a renowned Positive Psychology Practitioner, Coach, and Portfolio GP—a trailblazer in positive transformation and posttraumatic growth. She recently delivered a compelling TEDx talk in Warrington titled 'Invisible Disability: Challenging Bias to Enable Change.' Amrita confronts inequality within our current climate and advocates for promoting empathy and growth within a professional setting. She invites us to contemplate the potential for change when we unveil our strengths, prompting a broader reflection on society and how we treat each other.

Alumni needed for Royal Docks Summer Festival 2024!

Are you a member of the UEL alumni community who wants to get involved with our annual Royal Docks Innovation and Enterprise Summer Festival? This year will take the theme of Year of Science and we want to hear from you.

Can you perform on the main stage? Do you have a small business and want to host a workshop/activity? Do you run a catering business and want to run a food stall? 

Whatever talent or activity you have to offer, we want to hear from you. Email events@uel.ac.uk by 29th February 2024 and let us know how you would like to be involved. Fees will be discussed depending on the size and scale of your idea.

Alumni Webinar Series: Film Composition with Antonella Madrid

Tuesday 26th March 2024, 18:00-19:00, Online

UEL Alumni Antonella Madrid is a Venezuelan-American Film Composer, currently residing in London, United Kingdom. 
She is a multi-instrumentalist, having learnt to play the Tuba at the age of 11, Viola and Steelpans at 12, Guitar and Ukulele during her teenage years, and the Theremin at the age of 20.This webinar will delve into the importance of film scoring in the world of cinema and will serve as a comprehensive guide to those unfamiliar with the field. I will reflect upon my personal experiences as well as analyse contemporary examples to illustrate the intricacies of the medium.

  • The theoretical and historical aspects of the craft. 
  • The role of film music in storytelling.
