NOTICEBOARD

Our noticeboard section has some interesting updates for you, find out what has been going on at UEL over the past month.

Apply Now for the January 23 Intake of the Online MA in Special & Additional Learning Needs!

The PG Diploma / MA in Special and Additional Learning Needs (level 7 UK, level 9 IRL) was developed jointly by The School of Education and Communities, University of East London (UEL), and the Institute of Child Education and Psychology (ICEP) Europe.

Both UEL and ICEP Europe have a long track record in providing quality programmes in the field of special educational needs in the UK, Ireland, and internationally. The collaboration between the two institutions comes from a shared interest in offering a first-class provision in higher education that is accessible to international educators. Both UEL and ICEP Europe identified the need to support educators and those working with the increasing diversity of children with additional learning needs in education settings on an international level.

The international programme content is underpinned by the latest research in the field of special education, and ICEP Europe are at the forefront of research into best practice in education. Both UEL and ICEP Europe are equally committed to promoting inclusion for people with diverse needs and learning differences through the provision of the highest quality continuing professional development.

This programme is for all those, both in the UK and internationally, who are interested in Special and Additional Learning Needs, and those who have achieved a National Award in Special Educational Needs Coordination (SENCo) and want to progress to an MA qualification. This programme is also particularly suitable for teachers, psychologists, and other allied professionals working in educational settings who wish to deepen and extend their existing knowledge of inclusive education and evidence-based approaches in order to respond effectively to the needs of their students.

The international programme is taught entirely online, and participants will be supported throughout by their experienced programme tutors and expected to participate in class discussions and online tutorials.

The online format of the programme and the flexibility to pay for modules on an individual basis offers busy professionals the opportunity to work around their existing schedule and gain a recognised University qualification regardless of location.

A suite of unique modules was developed solely for this programme, designed to offer educators specialist, practical knowledge in special and additional educational needs. Participants can customise the programme to their needs by choosing the modules which reflect their specific interests and educational contexts.  Modules include Inclusive Education, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Dyslexia and Literacy, Exceptionally Able Learners, and Understanding Behaviour.

Assignments will prepare graduates for the rapid change in technology and societal patterns due to increased global interconnectivity. Each module will aim to scaffold learning towards an applied research project where application of theory and the development of professional management skills becomes standard practice.

A graduate from MSc Workplace Diversity in Sport will be tomorrow’s change leader, who is culturally aware and technologically literate. The course will be unique in its approach to recognising the need for emotional intelligence to support the development of individuals from marginalised groups within the workforce.

The course is delivered in partnership with the West Ham United Foundation where you will get the opportunity to engage with their team of experts and be supported with a bespoke programme to help you grow the next level in your chosen sports career.

Fashion graduates have your say!

Fashion Minority Report is conducting research into how the cost of living crisis is affecting fashion students. As residents of the UK continue to jostle with the cost-of-living crisis, what impact does this have on interns and emerging fashion talent who are often unpaid but highly sought after?

The results of the survey will inform an article that will be in a newspaper distributed at London Fashion Week in February 2023. As part of this thought piece, we want to collect insight from students in a 4-minute survey about their experience, and we're reaching out to our HE community to share with their alumni. Alumni will also have an opportunity to be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher.
