Please note this meeting is for information purposes and to hear what the board have been up to. There are currently no open positions to join the board. The UEL Alumni Advisory Board, launched in 2018, exists to advise on university-wide projects and initiatives, representing the alumni body in relations with the University and its Alumni Engagement team. The board has been a tremendous success, creating a wide range of activities aimed at enhancing both the student and alumni experience. Applecart Arts: Actors wanted for Activate Touring Performance Project Applecart Arts is seeking 4 actors to work together with Applecart’s Creative Team to devise a theatre performance for young people encouraging them to engage in the political process. ‘Activate’ (working title) will tour to schools, youth zones after launching in Applecart’s Theatre space. We are looking for actors with strong physical and ensemble abilities from across gender and ethnic backgrounds to reflect the rich diversity of Newham’s local community. Skills in singing or musical instruments will be useful, but not essential. The project is funded by Culture Within with added support from University of East London and Newham’s Youth Empowerment Services. and includes two week’s rehearsal and a week of performances. Applecart would hope to work with the cast to develop an ongoing life for the production beyond its initial run. We work with a wide range of artistic disciplines, creating original music, film, visual arts and drama. Cultural Producer's Programme: It's not too late to apply so make sure you don't miss out! Transform your passion into profession with Creative Newham's new training programme! Starting in Summer 2024, the Creative Newham Cultural Producers Programme offers 6 months of in-depth training and development to help you enter the arts and heritage sectors as a Cultural Producer. As one of the Cultural Producers on the programme, you will build up skills and knowledge through: - workshops and training delivered by leading industry experts
- mentoring and coaching
- paid placements where you will develop skills ranging from digital production to managing finances
The programme is free and open to Newham residents aged 18-30 who have worked or volunteered in any cultural or arts-related organisation, and who have the passion and drive to pursue a career in this field. You will be paid the London Living Wage for your time participating in the programme.

We will be selecting 14 Cultural Producers for this year’s cohort which runs from 23rd October 2024 to 5th May 2025. The Application deadline for the programme is 5th September 2024 and interviews will take place late September/early October.
