We have some great news stories for you, including University of East London graduates being honoured with prestigious Architecture Awards, and the University of East London being celebrated for Creative Excellence.

Across our campuses, the University of East London (UEL) community is doing its part to create a greener environment and a brighter future.

UEL students & graduates honoured with Prestigious Architecture Awards

The three students and two graduates from UEL scooped five out of 12 prizes at the RIBA London Student Awards, just before the new year.

ALUMNI OF THE MONTH

Each month we will feature our Alumni of the Month in our E-newsletter and on our website and you will receive an exclusive gift and certificate. Nominations for Alumni of the month will close on the 3rd Monday of each month and will be featured in the following E-newsletter. If you would like to feature as our Alumni of the Month, please complete our short form.

 

ALUMNI OF THE MONTH

We are pleased to introduce our next alumni of the month! Meet Pascalia Pamba who completed BA Special Education in 2018.

Pascalia has also completed a Master's course at the University College London, as well as recently qualifying and soon to graduate as a Primary Teacher. Pascalia is currently working as a supply teacher.

Pascalia has two special memories of UEL; “When I received the Dr Abiola Ogunsola Community Award/First Class Degree in 2018. I also met His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II when he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University.”

Alumni support needed for National Apprenticeship Week

In honour of National Apprenticeship Week 2022 being held 7th -13th February, The University of East London invites you to join us on our range of events and activities to showcase the diversity of apprenticeship opportunities in the UK to learners and employers alike. 

This is a great opportunity to meet and network with apprenticeship employers, University staff, Newham Council and the members of the local community. As well as getting a better understanding of how to utilise apprenticeships for your career. This week has been built especially for our community, so if you're a UEL alumnus —or interested in Apprenticeships—we'd love to see you there!

They will include spotlight interviews with real employers and apprentices’ webinars, and an awards ceremony to celebrate success stories in apprenticeships and a range of other activities.

School of Psychology Updates

Sonya Dineva, Lecturer on the MSc Business Psychology at the University of East London was one of the behavioural experts who reviewed the findings of the study 'All In The Mind: The Cognitive Errors That Might Hamper Business Decision Making'. Click here to read the Forbes article.

MSc Humanitarian Intervention programme leader, Dr Lucia Berdondini contributed to the book Black Identities + White Therapies with a chapter written with Ali Kaveh and Sandra Grieve. Great to see that the book edited by Divine Charura and Colin Lago has been selected by Brett Kahr as one of the “Top Ten books for 2021”.

Alumni Book Club

Tuesday 22nd February 2022, 19:00-20:00, Online

Book club is back! Join us for our revamped virtual group, where we will discuss different topics from a variety of books chosen by you. A chance to socialise with fellow graduates and learn something new!

Health & Medical Science Virtual Meet

Monday 28th February 2022, 18:00-19:30, Online

The aim of the monthly Alumni Interest Groups is to provide a place for likeminded Alumni to come together and network. Don’t worry! If you did not study a degree in the interest group topic, you are still welcome if the topic is of interest to you. There are no restrictions, and you are free to join as many of the meets as you would like to. 
The interest groups are YOUR SPACE where you can meet and share information, gain motivation and inspiration from each other, forming potential links that can help you within your career.

Time for Tea Catch Up

Tuesday 8th March 2022, 10:30- 11:30am, Online

The aim is to provide a place for UEL Alumni to come together for both a formal and informal social networking purpose. All alumni are welcome to join either one or more ‘Time for Tea Catch Ups’. It is a chance for you to discuss any topics on your mind or just have a light-hearted chat with no formal restrictions. Registration for each meet closes the Friday before the meeting date and joining instructions will follow shortly after registration closes.

University of East London, Americas & EU Recruitment Manager, London, £35,155 pa

You will be working directly with the Deputy Head of International Recruitment as well as working cross collaboratively with the Deputy Head of International Communications and Operations to implement strategies to support wider international recruitment objectives. As part of the role, you will also be required to manage a Regional Officer to feed into your regional action and conversion strategies.

University of East London, MENA & Central Asia Recruitment Manager, London, £35,155 pa

In this role you will work as a lead member of the International Office’s recruitment team. The successful candidate will lead on the development and implementation of the MENA & Central Asia recruitment strategy to ensure the university meets its international recruitment targets and lead regional engagement initiatives.

Quality Assurance and Processes Manager, The Complete Education Solution, London, £30,000- £32,000 pa

We are seeking an individual with substantial knowledge and experience of quality assurance processes and Ofsted inspections. You will lead on quality assurance across the organisation, ensuring Ofsted readiness, and playing a key role in facilitating audits, internal and external inspections by Ofsted, Local Authorities and TCES Governors. 

Finance Officer, Haven House Childrens Hospice, London, £30,000 pa

We are looking for a strong, motivated Finance Officer to work within a small team that can use their skills for the ultimate benefit of the children and families we support. You will collaborate with internal teams, process large volumes of data accurately at speed and ensure monthly deadlines for reporting are met and play an important role in ensuring the charity has the right financial information at the right time.
